CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — November is National Diabetes Month, an opportunity for Americans to come together and sound the alarm about the growing diabetes epidemic. Millions are already living with the disease, and many more are currently at risk.
Both type 1 diabetes (juvenile diabetes) and type 2 diabetes (adult-onset diabetes) can have life-threatening health consequences without proper care. There is no cure, but careful management allows diabetics to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. Any lab test now empowers clients to take control of their health without the need for medical orders or insurance.
“It’s important to understand your body and put your well-being first,” said franchise owner Julie Blasingame. “Any Lab Test Now can give you the answers you are looking for.”
Diabetes is more common than people think. An estimated 37 million Americans are living with the disease, while data shows that 1 in 3 Americans, or about 96 million people, may be prediabetic. Prediabetes means that a person’s blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but not yet high enough to be diagnosed with diabetes. Without lifestyle changes, prediabetics are likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
Many cases of type 2 diabetes can be prevented. If you think you may have symptoms or have certain risk factors, or want to take preventative steps to lower your risk, the American Diabetes Association recommends a blood glucose test. Any Lab Test Now performs a serum glucose test, also known as a fasting blood glucose test, to determine if your blood glucose levels are within a healthy range. It also detects prediabetes, hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia.
The lab also provides a diabetes maintenance panel, which screens diabetics as well as people who want to find out if they have diabetes further. The panel includes four tests: a complete blood count, a comprehensive metabolic panel, hemoglobin A1c, and diabetic urinalysis. Together, these tests can help monitor how well your diabetes is controlled and determine if your kidneys are working properly.
“It’s important to know those levels because high and low blood sugar levels can sometimes mimic flu-like symptoms,” Blasingame said. “You don’t want to ignore them and end up in dire straits.”
Any Lab Test Now has been serving southern Utah for 12 years and provides fast, accurate results for over 8,000 panels. The lab is continually expanding its testing menu while making essential information easier for customers to access. A new urinalysis tool allows them to detect bladder infections, UTIs, kidney stones and hepatitis with same-day results.
If you have respiratory symptoms, your first instinct may be to take a home COVID-19 test. But what happens when you test negative? Any Lab Test Now can detect COVID as well as Strep, RSV, and the flu with a single nasal swab. Results are delivered within an hour, giving you invaluable peace of mind before visiting your loved ones for the holidays.
Any Lab Test Now now also offers DNA My Dog. With just a cheek swab, dog owners can discover their pet’s unique genetic makeup, which plays a huge role in their personality traits and recommended activity levels.
“A lot of us don’t have purebreds, so it’s important to know what’s going on with our animals and what works best for them,” Blasingame said.
The lab recently expanded its hours to accommodate a variety of schedules. Clients can come in for testing or schedule an appointment between 8 am and 6 pm Monday through Friday, as well as 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday.
Any Lab Test Now is one of more than 170 independently owned and operated franchise locations and is affiliated with accredited laboratories throughout the United States. As such, a physician’s referral is not required for any testing. Services are not covered by insurance, but the lab accepts FSA and HSA cards as a form of payment.
“We’re quick, easy and cheap,” Blasingame said. “If it occurs to you, we can try it.”
