IN BRIEF: St. Anne’s Turkey Dinner Sunday |  Local news

The St. Anne Society will have its annual turkey dinner on Sunday, November 6, from 11 am to 1 pm at Centennial Hall in Lindsay. The cost of the food is a donation. Members of St. Peter’s Parish are asked to bring a cake for the walk and a dessert for lunch.

There will also be a silent auction for the St. Anne’s Helping Hands Fund which is used to help needy families in the parish. Auction items can be dropped off from 7 am to 5:30 pm on Saturday, November 5. Donors must include their names on donations. Gobble Wobble Sunday

The Learning Tree Preschool is hosting its 41st annual Gobble Wobble this Sunday at 11 am at the First United Methodist Church – Gainesville Fellowship Hall.

This event helps raise funds to keep tuition costs low and help the school create the best possible experience for your children.

The event includes a $10 Chicken Express dinner, a raffle, and a live and silent auction.

First Presbyterian Choir Practice Wednesday

The First Presbyterian Church, located at Denton and Church streets in Gainesville, will host the Sunday worship service at 10:30 a.m.

The annual Women of Faith in Service Luncheon is at First Baptist Church, 308 E. Broadway, at noon on November 4. Everyone is invited.

Choir practice is at 7 pm on Wednesday.

Bible study is at 10 am on Friday.

Lions Host Taco Dinner on November 10

The Gainesville Lions Club will host a Taco Dinner on November 10 at the First Baptist Church of Gainesville.

People can eat in or order takeout from the event, which takes place from 4 to 7 pm in the church’s annex at 400 E. Broadway.

For $10, attendees will get a taco, a burrito, chips and a drink. They also get $10 worth of Taco bucks at Taco Casa.

Cooke Co. Library closed on Veterans Day

The Cooke County Library will be closed on Friday, November 11 for Veterans Day. It will open at 10 am on Saturday, November 12, with regular hours.

Cooke County Fair Association Annual Sale This Weekend

The 2022 Arts & Crafts Sell-O-Rama will be Friday and Saturday at Whaley United Methodist Church. Registration for the 2022 fair is ongoing and spaces are still available.

Organizers say the venue is as big as the Gainesville Civic Center. Spaces will be available on the wall or in the center.

Health screenings November 15

Cooke County residents can get screened for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and other serious conditions with affordable screenings by Life Line Screening. The First United Methodist Church of Gainesville will host this community event on November 15 at the church, 214 S Denton St in Gainesville. Parking is free.

Giveaways November 14-21 at area churches

The collection begins next month for Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts for the Samaritan’s Purse project. Local volunteers are preparing to collect gift boxes during National Collection Week, November 14-21.
